Monotonicity and stability of periodic polling models

چکیده
This paper deals with the stability of periodic polling models with mixed service policies. The interarrivals to all queues are independent and exponentially distributed and the service and the switch-over times are independent with general distributions. The necessary and suucient condition for the stability of such polling systems is established. The proof is based on the stochastic monotonicity of the state process at the polling instants. The stability of only a subset of the queues is also analyzed, and, in case of heavy traac, the order of explosion of the queues is given. Stability of periodic polling system with BMAP arrivals
This paper considers the stability of BMAP/GI/1 periodic polling models with mixed service disciplines. The server attends the N stations in a repeating sequence of stages. Customers arrive to the stations according to batch Markov arrival processes (BMAP s). The service times of the stations are general independent and identically distributed. The characterization of global stability of the sy...
متن کاملStability of Two Exponential Time-limited Polling Models
In this article, we consider the stability of two single-server polling models. More specifically, we will state and prove the stability conditions of single-server polling systems operating under the pure and exhaustive exponential time-limited service discipline. These conditions will be proven for the polling system operating under the periodic polling strategy and preemptive service. The st...

Architectures parall eles, Bases de donn ees, R eseaux et Syst emes distribu es Abstract Consider a polling system with K 1 queues and a single server that visits the queues in a cyclic order. The polling discipline in each queue is of general gated-type or exhaustive-type. We assume that in each queue the arrival times form a Poisson process, and that the service times, the walking times as we...
متن کاملManaging Modems by Periodic Polling
Network management and network monitoring technologies frequently rely on periodic SNMP polling of target devices to obtain statistical information for later reduction and analysis. Periodic polling has been applied to virtually every type of network device capable of supporting an SNMP agent, including probes, routers, switches, and servers. This paper examines the extension of periodic pollin...
متن کاملDominance Theorems and Ergodic Properties of Polling Systems
We consider a class of polling systems with stationary ergodic input flow such that the control in a system obeys a certain regeneration property. For this class, necessary and sufficient conditions for the queue-length process to be bounded in probability are found. Under these conditions, we prove that a stationary regime exists and the queue-length process for a system that starts from the z...
